The Lewiston Pistol Club will offer three basic handgun classes this summer/fall (2017). All will be led by NRA certified instructors and all firearms and ammunition will be provided. These courses are designed for those with little or no knowledge of handguns . All classes will take place at the Bernie Petersen Memorial Range on Lenville road. A stand-alone class will be offered October 9, 9 am to 6 pm. These will cost $40/person and pre-registration with K W Hipps at KHipps@aol.com is required. These classes may fill quickly so please let us know you are coming as soon as possible, but at least 10 days before the class date. These will be non-NRA classes and will cover all of the following: An NRA Phase II Basic Pistol course will be offered on September 10 from 9 am to 2 pm. Students taking this course MUST have completed phase I (on line) and have registered through www.nrainstructors.org. This course will cost $40 (in addition to the $60 you paid NRA for the on-line portion). Idaho Enhanced Permit Qualifying Class -- NRA Personal Protection in the Home Lewiston Pistol Club and LDP Academy will be offering a Personal protection in the Home class on September 17 at 9 am at the Lenville range. Cost will be $100. You must sign up at www.nrainstructors.org before September 5th if you wish to attend, but sooner is better. You will need 200 rounds of commercial ammunition, a strong side holster that covers the trigger guard and that requires only one hand for holstering, at least two extra magazines or speed loaders, and a personal defense firearm. It will be 4-5 hours of shooting and 4 hours of class. Hearing and eye protection required. Prerequisites: Basic Pistol or equivalent, or any concealed pistol permit. You must be able to safely handle a pistol! I always run small classes with lots of training officers, so register early if you want a seat. In Idaho, you can now carry concealed with no training. But, this is NOT a good idea. |
